H/L Screws For Vinyl
Hawk Fastener Corporation supplies stocks & supplies several types of fasteners used for the PVC / Vinyl Industries.
The most popular screw used, which was designed exclusively for Plastic, PVC and Vinyl, is the H/L Sharp Point. The H/L Sharp Point Screw is a high performance, dual lead, thread former.
With two distinctive threads, one high and one low. The high thread (#1) has a sharp steep flanked angle for positive engagement and creates lower radial pressure for reduced boss failure, which produces a greater margin between your driving and stripping torque.
The lower thread (#2) will vary in height from 1/3 to 1/2 of the high thread. The function of the lower thread is to increase holding power by forcing more of the mating material between the higher threads. This greatly increases the pull-out strength from standard sheet metal threads.
Hawk Fastener Corporation stocks the H/L Sharp Point Screws in both
18-8 Stainless Steel and 410 Stainless Steel.
18-8 Stainless Steel is recommended for PVC / Vinyl to PVC / Vinyl applications as well as PVC / Vinyl to wood applications.
410 Stainless Steel is recommended for PVC / Vinyl to thin sheet metal.

Note: for PVC / Vinyl to thicker gauged metal applications Hawk Fastener does not recommend H/L Screws without pre-drilling. If your not going to pre-drill your hole we would recommend our Self-Driller Line.
